Back To Daylight Wasting Time

Yep, it’s time to do that stupid thing that most Americans do twice a year – mess with the clock.  See what happens when you let Congress get involved?  Everyone that we know thinks changing time is a dumb thing to do and wished that we’d just set our clocks on Daylight Savings Time and leave them alone.  However, we have heard it reported that the mid west farmers do not like Daylight Savings Time – the extra hour of sun light burns up their crops.  But, other than that, the rest of us like it lighter later.

We hate getting up at two o’clock in the morning to run throughout the house resetting all of our clocks.  It’s amazing how many clocks we have.  The computers, the TVs, the DVD player, the coffeepot, the microwave, and let us not forget the clock itself.  Oops, we almost forgot the most important one of all – our wristwatches.   That’s because Judy and I don’t have wristwatches, we have a day clock instead – it just tells us what day is which is helpful when you’re retired.  Retired folks never get a day off or take a vacation, but they do need to know when to go to the clubhouse for breakfast or dinner.

Here’s a suggestion, we ought to rebel and refuse to change our clocks; after all, this is America and, just like Burger King, we can have it our way.  Maybe that would send Congress a message and they would rescind this foolish legislation.  Nah, they never listen to “We The People”, they just listen to the idiots.   Mark Twain said, “All Congresses have a kindly feeling for idiots, and a compassion for them, on account of personal experience and heredity.”   So, I guess it’s just up to us to take matters into our own hands and just refuse to go along with this foolishness.

So, we’ll see you at eight o’clock, or is that seven o’clock?  Well, checking our clock on the wall, we’ll see you on Sunday.

  1. We could all hold our clocks and go sit in a park somewhere (preferably some place where we could disrupt traffic) and "Occupy Time"!!

  2. Now that I am retired and do not currently have to be anywhere specific and a certain time, I choose to follow my grandfather's take on DST. When the sun comes up - go to work; when it goes down, stop working and get some rest. Easy as 1,2,3. Now what happens if the sun is obscured by clouds or a total solar eclipse happens? Simple, that is God's way of letting you know you need more rest.
Now if that don't make sense, my plan for tonight is to fall back into bed. So tomorrow I can honestly say I remembered to 'Fall Back'.
