Zoned Out

On our way to Knoxville, we crossed the International Time Zone; that is, we crossed back into the Eastern Time Zone.  Now I’ve been getting up around zero six thirty hours.  You guessed it, it was zero seven thirty hours when I arose this morning.  You know it’s a good thing we’re retired.  “Is it time to eat?”  “I don’t know, are you hungry?”  Is it time to go to bed?”  “I don’t know, are you tired?”  “Is it time to get up?”  “I don’t know, are you rested?”  In other words, time is a relative thing when you’re retired.  And my wife is a relative, she’s up so I’m up.

Back to back uneventful travel days; that’s the way we like ‘em.  Just think, we’ve managed to travel three uneventful travel days since the tree ate our bedroom slide topper in Michigan.  Once we get back “home” I’ll be a busy little beaver.  I need to replace the cover on the front A/C and the cover on the refrigerator vent as well as the slide topper.

The coach’s roof is absolutely positively filthy; I’ve never seen it so dirty.  I had to climb up on the roof to sweep off the bedroom slide before we could put it in when leaving Shady Acres.  We were sitting under trees that were starting to shed their leaves.  That’s when I discovered how filthy the roof really is.

On top of that, the entire coach needs to be washed and waxed.  It’s only been washed once since we left Rainbow Plantation way back in April.  We never did get the carpets cleaned so that job still hanging out there.

The truck got a bath on Tuesday.  Catia helped me, I washed and she rinsed, but it only got off the first layer of dirt.  Being that it was a sunny day, the water spotted so the truck needs to be washed, buffed, and waxed again.  This time before the sun gets a chance to heat it up – black trucks, what a pain.  Also, the entire inside needs to be detailed.  Like the RV, it hasn’t been cleaned out since last April.

Sheesh, I’m tired already just thinking about it all.  But you know what?  Once we get back into our stall, I’m just going to sit and do nothing for a few days, maybe even a week, before I start doing anything.  I think the first thing I’ll do is get my rocking chair out of the basement and just sit on my front porch waving at anyone who walks by.  Now that sounds like a real good plan to me.

So, here we are, right back where we started from.  We do plan a couple of outings while we’re here in the Washington, D.C. area.  Hopefully we’ll not run into any politicians shaking hands, slapping backs, and kissing babies; they’re thicker than fleas on a hound dawg around here.  Today we’ll visit with Joel and Mary; no baby yet, and tomorrow we’ll move over to Prince William RV Park in Dumfries, Virginia.  Then we’ll be set for awhile.
