The Sony Reader and The Domestics

Since the rain storms over the weekend that brought massive flooding in several counties surrounding Nashville, it has been just fantastic weather.  Bright sun shiny days with temperatures in the 80’s and low humidity.  Today may even reach the 90’s but, with the low humidity, it will be very tolerable.

We restocked the pantry and fridge yesterday morning and then went over to Matt and Jackie’s where Judy began her domestic engineering job.  She did laundry and dishes (they have a dishwasher which helps out a lot) and then she prepared a delicious dinner of meat loaf, carrots, and smashed ‘taters.

I played with Jackie’s Sony Reader for awhile to see if there is one in my future.  I think there could be, however, I’m not at the stage of paying ten bucks to download books when I can go to the public library and check them out for free.  Also, they are a little pricey for a “single task” item – I think that there is something just around the corner that will allow you to access the internet and read your email as well as books and newspapers – iPad maybe?

Otherwise, I liked it.  I’m not so hard core that I have to have a book in my paws to enjoy reading.  Besides that, usually, after reading for a period of time, I have a hard time focusing my eyes; with the Sony Reader I didn’t experience that.  It has a grey background with black letters along with three size settings, all of which helped prevent my eyes from “blurring”.  It’s light weight and can be held by one hand with the page turning button located so you can flip pages with your thumb while holding the unit at a comfortable reading distance.

Bottom line, it could be a good addition to the RVing lifestyle thereby eliminating the need to carry lots of books on board which can become very heavy.  However, like the fulltime RV lifestyle, it’s not for everyone.  My advice would be to read an entire book on one before purchasing it; then you would know for sure if it is something that you would want to invest in.

Okay then, today the Domestics (that be us) will head back to Matt and Jackie’s to continue helping out.  Judy is going to take Jackie to the doctor’s office this afternoon to find out how things are going with the pregnancy.  Hopefully her blood pressure is returning to normal but, she is still having contractions which isn’t good at seven months.

Well, that’s the way it is this sixth day of May, twenty-ten!!
