Big Daddy’s Grill, located on the Fish River in Fairhope, Alabama, has to be our favorite eatery in the area. There are many, many great places to chow down in this area, but we don’t know of any that has better shrimp dishes than Big Daddy’s. The shrimp basket comes with plenty of shrimp (you can get it fried, grilled, or blackened), fries (or you can have onion rings or sweet potato fries or a combo of any two), coleslaw, and hush puppies. Their baskets, be it fish, oysters, or shrimp, are all nine bucks on the lunch menu plus they offer a two dollar glass of draft Yeungleng beer.
Surprisingly, Big Daddy’s, way down here in Lower Alabama, offers one heck of a Philly sandwich. Sandwiches (which includes po-boys) are all six bucks on the lunch menu and comes with fries (same deal as above) or potato chips. Now this may sound like a commercial for Big Daddy’s Grill, but they have great food at reasonable prices and we leave with our bellies filled. On top of all that, they give us Escapees a 10% discount.
Okay, as you have probably already figured out, Mike, Peggy, Judy, and I headed toward the Fish River and Big Daddy’s Grill yesterday afternoon for “linner”. All four of us had the shrimp baskets; just can’t get enough of those grilled shrimp. After stuffing our faces, we headed to the Fairhope mecca, Wallyworld, to pick up a few things. Then we pointed our noses eastward to the camper’s shrine, Camping World. Finally we landed back at the Plantation.
By the time we returned home, it was “martini time”, although we had Dortha’s frozen margaritas instead (don’t really care for martinis). Of course, when you sit around with margaritas in your paws, you just have to solve a few of the world’s most pressing problems – only if “they” would listen to us. Also, we chatted a little more about our upcoming big adventure along with other topics.
So what do we do today? Well, we need to continue on our projects. This morning is cleanout the clothes closet day. After that’s done, who knows. But, we can guarantee you that we don’t color between the lines so anything is possible.
