It’s Saturday morning and I’m sitting in my recliner sipping my coffee and contemplating the day’s events. First of all, I’m thankful that yesterday’s trip was somewhat uneventful. The only “fly in the ointment” was that one of the bolts holding the “new” steps in place broke. I must have over tightened it while installing the “new” steps. It had an elastic stop nut on it which made it a little difficult to sense how much pressure I was putting on the bolt. I suppose it’s possible that the nut was cross threaded or, most likely, it was just a “cheap ass” bolt to begin with. No big deal, I have replacement bolts on hand so it can be easily replaced.
We arrived at Mayberry Campground around two o’clock and it only took about twenty minutes to “pitch the tent” with all the hook ups. Then it was “Tea Time” (It’s all Mikee’s fault for instituting this tradition); after which, we took a short drive about to get the lay of the land.
On our way home we dined at Goober’s where Judy had a nice BBQ’d chicken sandwich and I had the Black Jack Burger – both were yummy sandwiches. The sandwiches came with a pickle and potato chips or you could upgrade for seventy-five cents. We both upgraded to “Crispy O’s” which were stringy onion rings – should have stuck with the potato chips.
So, as for today, we’re going to make up the rules as the game progresses. Don and Jenny are coming to visit us and they’ve never been to Mount Airy either before so we’ll most likely go downtown to visit Andy Griffith’s old stomping grounds. A lot of the “businesses” in the old television series were based on “establishments” located on Main Street in Mount Airy, however, some of the names were changed. More about all of that later (with pictures).
In the meantime, Have Yourself A Great Day and May God Bless - - - - - - - -
