Here it is, Oh-Dark-Thirty and the four of us are up and at ‘em. Alex has been wanting to get up for over an hour now. He kept walking all over our bodies and announcing loudly that it was morning. His concept of morning and ours isn’t exactly in sync.
In any event, it is always nice to be up before sunrise. We are playing in the last quarter of the game of life and need to savor every moment. The moments are passing by rather quickly with soooo much to do and soooo little time. Therefore, we need to make the most of every second so, yes Alex, it’s time to get up.
We are finding that the best way to get the most out of life is by being content. That is not always easy in today’s lifestyle. The world is pulling us humanoids in all sorts of different directions telling us that we need this or we need that in order to be happy. But, the best way to find contentment in this life is to love God and treasure His provisions for us. We don’t have to be millionaires to do that, there is so much to take pleasure in right out our front doors (or in our case, side door). All we have to do is slow down and allow our senses, and imagination, to take over in order to experience it.
Yep, watching a sunrise is a spectacular thing. Walking in the woods taking in the vibrant colors and listening to the sounds of nature is a wonder. Sitting on the seashore watching the waves crashing in while the gulls squawk overhead is just plain marvelous. Walking hand in hand with the one you love is nothing short of serendipitous. Yes, the cost of living maybe rising, but God has provided us with plenty of “free” things to experience. We just need to slow down and smell the roses.
Now, it’s time to get ready to go and worship the One who “so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”. That verse gives us great comfort and peace as we play out the last quarter of this game. His provision is not just for the now, but for all of eternity. That is our great Hope. All thanks be to God.
