Let The Good Times Roll

Yesterday was getting ready for company day.  I got an early start on the “George Patterson” fish chowdah which ended up being a “Signature Darrell Patterson” Seafood Chowdah.  Before I was done with that, Mike showed up with the lawn mower so we could have freshly mowed sites to rally on.  I finished the chowdah and cleaned up the kitchen while he finished the lawn.  While all of that was going on, Judy went for a doctor’s appointment and Peggy went grocery shopping.

Next, Mike and I went to get Winne out of storage and bring her to the fairgrounds where she was set up next door to us awaiting Randy and Terry’s arrival.

Then Mike and I made a beer run.  It used to be said that a true Mainer couldn’t do anything without a beer in one hand, a cigarette hanging out of his mouth, and monkey wrench, paint brush, or whatever in his other hand.  If we Mainers had three hands, we could make some serious money!!

Okay then, everything was set for Randy and Terry, right down to the mints on the pillows.  The rug was out and the light was on, just like Motel 6.  They arrived at seven o’clock on the dot; well, maybe a few minutes after.  They were given the choice, get settled in or eat – they chose eat because they hadn’t eaten since the last time.

Now I don’t want to break my arm patting myself on the back, but that chowdah was nothing short of Gooooooood!  I think everyone went back for seconds and, true to a Mainer’s conviction, there’s plenty left over for breakfast.  Peggy brought a freshly made garden salad, with a wide variety of veggies in it, along with several dressings and croutons.  It was yummy as well and complemented the chowdah to a tee (“you’re a great chowdah”, the salad kept on saying).  We feasted like kings and queens.

So, y’all know that it didn’t take long for the six of us to pick up pretty much where we left off; that is, giggling for the girls while the guys resolved all the world’s pressing problems.  We came to the conclusion that we are all thankful for Wienergate because while our fearless leaders are distracted with that little issue they are not messing everything else up.  Yep, we are strong advocates of the “just leave it alone and let it take care of itself” policy.  Everytime Guvmint gets involved, it just gets worse.

Anyhow, we’ve not decided exactly what today is going to bring.  We’ll just have to see what the weather will be and move on from there.  We’re not supposed to have a nice sunny day until Thursday, but now that our mini rally has begun the good times will roll none the less.  Ya just can’t keep a good man (or woman) down!!!
